February 2025 MI Champions Series:
February 21st & 28th, March 7th & 14th at 9:30am-1:30pm EST (NY, US)

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the core components of designing competency-based MI learning opportunities customized for specific audiences and modalities.
  • Prepare customized materials for championing and providing MI training for others.
  • Facilitate MI learning through modeling, didactics, exercises, feedback and debriefing.
  • Continued development as a champion and trainer of MI through self-reflection and awareness of competencies, qualities and practices for ensuring that the learning space is safe, inclusive, and conducive to learning and actively demonstrating the Spirit and skills of Motivational Interviewing.

Included in this course:

Motivational Interviewing Fidelity Coding Training
with the MITI 4.2.1

How do we know it’s really good MI? Brewer & Bristow Training is excited to offer this highly interactive, online course walking participants through use of the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity 4.2.1 Coding Manual (“the MITI”) for fidelity coding of audio recordings. We’ll also practice providing helpful and MI-consistent coding feedback for MI learners and discuss ways to grow in coding proficiency and reliability.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this series, participants will:

  • Recognize the major components of the coding process using the MITI 4.2.1 coding system, including assessing globals, parsing utterances, and behavior counts.
  • Practice providing MITI 4.2.1 coding feedback in a coaching style consistent with MI.
  • Evaluate the importance of coding practice with and without transcripts and developing inter-coder reliability for effective use of the MITI 4.2.1.
  • Be able to code recorded samples of Motivational Interviewing sessions for MI fidelity. 
  • Be able to provide feedback on coded MI skills in a coaching style consistent with MI.

  • 16 hours of live online interactive instruction with opportunities for practice and Q&A
  • Access to handouts, slides, audio recording samples, and sample coding summary forms
  • CE credits approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)

Join us for an interactive, 2-part online series for dedicated MI practitioners ready to elevate their skills. Over 6 engaging hours, we’ll dive deep into advanced MI knowledge through hands-on experiential exercises and real-world skills practice. This series focuses on the 4 Tasks of MI—from building meaningful client connections to skillfully evoking transformative change talk.This training series will be capped at 20 learners. Learners with at least 6 hours of prior training and practice with MI are welcome!

Learning Objectives:

  • Through participation in this workshop, participants will:
    • Recall and explain key concepts of Motivational Interviewing (MI), including the four MI Tasks and the role of change talk (i.e., DARN language).
    • Demonstrate MI skills through exercises with feedback.
    • Reflect on and evaluate personal values and strengths as they relate to MI practice.
    • Apply MI techniques in practice scenarios to enhance client engagement and support behavior change.

  • 6 hours of live online interactive instruction with opportunities for skills practice and discussion
  • Access to handouts, slides, and resource recommendations
  • CE credits approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
